Bobbie Sue Fitch

Bobbie Sue Mathis Fitch, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Bobbie lived a life shaped by service, kindness, and an unwavering desire to help others. She volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross and at CHI Memorial Hospital, offering her time, compassion, and steady hands wherever they were needed. Giving was not something she did - it was who she was. Everyone who met her felt immediately welcomed, loved, and seen.

Bobbie was also an avid racquetball player and a talented gardener. Whether on the court or in her flower beds, she brought joy, energy, and a warm smile to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Mathis and Martha Jordan Mathis; and siblings Ollie (Mary) Brown, Willie "Bill" (Marguerite) Brown, Lona Mae (Young) Boing, Lois (Guffy) Smith, Tommy Mathis, Charles "C.D." (Mary Ann) Mathis, and Katherine (Jerry) Light.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, 343 days, Edward Fitch; her children: Rhonda Crews, Donna (Ed) Lawrence, Eddie (Stephanie) Fitch, and Jon Fitch; and grandchildren: Julie (Bryan) Hogue, Bryan (Melanie) Wood, Anne (Ryan) Widener, Ashley (Nick) Stembridge, Odin Fitch and Frankie Fitch. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Emerson Hogue, Brett Hogue, Luke Wood, Zoe Wood, Lexie Stembridge, Bentley Stembridge, Blake Stembridge, William Widener and Jude Widener, all of Chattanooga; as well as her cherished cousin, Mildred Loretta Jordan Cardwell, 96, of College Station, Texas.

Bobbie's legacy is one of generosity, steadfast faith, and love that extended to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation is 10:00-11:00 am Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Service will be 11:00 am Friday in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
