Bobbie Lee Mizer, age 89, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Cassville after a long illness. Bob, son of Jimmie Leon Mizer and Naomi (Henderson) Mizer Ferguson was born on August 1, 1934, in Purdy, Missouri. He was a 1952 Purdy High School graduate.
On November 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Sue Ann Bowman in Cassville and moved to Wichita where they started their new life together. Bob worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita for six years, six days and four hours. Their daughter Andrea was born in 1956, and after moving back to Cassville in 1959 they had their son, Charles.
Bob engaged in a painting business with Glen Dale Nicoll for several years before he began his career with the United States Post Service in November of 1963. Bob worked at several locations such as Bolivar and Cassville, and at the time of his retirement he was the Postmaster at Purdy. After a short retirement Bob returned to the painting business. In his later years, Bob worked at White Funeral Home, becoming a familiar face at the front door greeting people with his big smile.
Bob was saved at a young age during vacation bible school in Purdy and later was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. He was a devoted member of Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Superintendent. Bob loved the Lord and never missed an opportunity to tell someone of His love and mercies.
Bob was a very loving husband, father, and Papa Bob who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed singing in the church choir and various quartets. Bob had a huge heart, loved people, and never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face that could light up any room. Bob was a dear friend and was loved by so many. As we say goodbye to Bob, we celebrate the life he lived and the countless lives he touched. He will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Sue Mizer, of Cassville; daughter, Andrea Nickle and her husband Chuck, of Butterfield; son, Charles Mizer and his wife Tammy, of Cassville; three grandchildren, Emily Jackson, Trever Mizer and his wife Sunnie, and Aaron Mizer; eight great-grandchildren, Chase Jackson and his wife Kelsey, Cole Jackson, Cale Jackson, Kinzey Mizer, Auden Mizer, Kaden Mizer, Rogan Mizer and Mia Mizer; one great-great-granddaughter, Presley Jackson; one sister, Naomi Carole Garrison; one brother, Charles Henry Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
