BOBBIE JOE MOORE

Bobbie Joe Moore passed away November 11, 2025, one week short of his 92nd birthday after an extended stay at Lackey Convalescent Home, Forest, Mississippi. He escaped the challenging bonds of a distressing illness, and rejoined his late beloved spouse, Lynette, in a heavenly home. Graveside services will be conducted at Homewood Methodist Cemetery, Homewood, Mississippi at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16. Rev. Dan Henry will officiate under direction of Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest.

Bobbie was born November 18, 1933 to Robert Daniel and Vera Nell Lovett Moore. He grew up in Homewood, Mississippi, and graduated from Forest High School in 1952. In later years, he attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Following high school, Bobbie served in the Army during the Korean War. Later, he was a member of the Mississippi National Guard, where he earned a commission. He joined the Army Reserves, served in Special Forces several years, including completion of Jump School, and retired with the rank of Colonel.

He was employed by Southern Pine Electric Power of Taylorsville, MS, in 1957, and as a diligent worker for several years, progressed to a specialized management position.

Bobbie met the love of his life, Lynette Glaze, and they were married in 1958. Both USM graduates, they were dedicated supporters of Golden Eagle football and never missed a home game. They also enjoyed travel to scenic, religious, and historic sites in several states.

With no children of their own, they generously aided several relatives with college expenses and other financial needs. During the several years Lynette was a patient in Lackey Convalescent Home, Bobbie was a loyal and dedicated husband. He was present daily at her side from morning to evening, keeping her company and helping care for her every need. He basically devoted his life to her.

After retirement and prior to Lynette’s lengthy confinement, he enjoyed weekly golf games with cousin, Billy Lovett.

Bobbie was a lifelong member of Homewood Methodist Church, and a loyal, devoted supporter as long as health permitted.

Preceding him in death were parents, Bob Dan and Vera Moore; wife, Lynette Glaze Moore; sister Jane Moore Risher; nephew Mitchell Crumpton. He is survived by brother-in-law Hal Risher, sister-in-law Betty Nygren of The Woodlands, TX, nephews Hal Risher, Jr. (Dena) of Rosemary, FL, Keith Crumpton of Jackson, MS; nieces Joy Risher Power (Biff) of Forest, MS, Cindy Thomas (Bob) of Madison, MS, as well as several great nephews and nieces, and a great-great niece.

A very special thanks to the staff of Lackey Convalescent Home where he was a resident for several years and well cared for by staff members. Also, sincere appreciation to cousin Gene Walker, who helped see to Bobbie’s every need in later years, frequently assisted by niece, Joy Power.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homewood (Methodist) Church. 8720 Hwy 35 South, Forest, MS 39074
