Bobbie Jean Russell, age 92, a cherished matriarch, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in Karnack, TX, the same date she graced this world with her presence in 1933 in Daingerfield, TX. Bobbie's life was characterized by her unshakable faith, her devotion to her family, and her passion for the simple joys that life offered. As a family matriarch, Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, William Thomas "Tommy" Russell, her parents, Bertha Agnes Cook Welch and Thomas Otha Welch Sr. her grandson Luke William Ferguson, and her brothers, Thomas Otha Welch, Jr. and Curtis Edwin Welch. Her legacy of love continues through her children, Cynthia Diane Ferguson and her husband Larry Edward Ferguson, Tina Jeanine Barron and her husband Jimmy Charles Barron, and her son Donald Wayne Russell and his wife Lori Russell. Bobbie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She took immense pride in Jessica Dawn Palmer, Daniel Edward Ferguson, Stephen Benjamin Francis, Dominic Francis Barron, Kevin Charles Barron, and Travis Wayne Barron. Her great-grandchildren, William Starr Lozano, Sapphyre Ice Hapeman, Jason Nathaniel Palmer, Luke Edward Ferguson, Joshua Adrian Ferguson, Reghan Kiersten Francis, Caden Russell Francis, Amelia Jean Barron, Lera Lea Barron, and Luca Dean Barron, will carry her spirit and love forward for generations to come. Her professional life was marked by her meticulous skills as a bookkeeper, a role she held with pride until her retirement at the age of 88. Bobbie's work ethic and integrity were a testament to her character, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Faith played a central role in Bobbie's life. She was a devout Christian and an active member of Karnack Baptist Church, where her service went beyond attendance. She held the position of treasurer, managing the church's finances with the same dedication she applied to all aspects of her life. Bobbie's talents were many and varied. She was an artist with a needle and thread, creating beautiful pieces of sewing, crocheting, and embroidery that she generously shared with others. Her love for crosswords was notable, and she took great pride in graduating from pencil to pen, a symbol of her confidence and expertise. Bobbie's melodious voice was a gift she joyfully shared, often singing the hymns she held dear and filling the rooms of her home and church with song. Her appreciation for the arts extended to the silver screen, where she found comfort and joy in the classic films of Jimmy Stewart and Richard Widmark. The musicals featuring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire were among her favorites, allowing her a delightful escape into a world of song and dance.
