Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Glen Haven Chapel on Oct. 14, 2025.
Bobby Allen Andress, son of Allen and Fusako (Tatemichi) Andress, was born July 29, 1966, in Menomonie, WI. He was the youngest of 5 siblings. Bobby graduated from Menomonie High School in 1984. He attended the University of Wisconsin - Stout and Oshkosh. He moved to Green Bay, WI in 1988 and began working for Global Recognition, Inc. known for customized promotional products. This is where he learned to be a Packer fan. In 1992, because of his expert computer and customer service skills, he was recruited by ID Services of New Hope, MN as an Engraving Supervisor. In 1997 Bobby began his career of 27 years at Metro Transit, where he worked until his unwelcomed retirement due to his cancer in November of 2024. During his tenure, Bobby worked for the Transit Information Center until 1999 when he was promoted to Schedule Distribution. In 2001, he was promoted as a Street Supervisor of Bus Operations. In this role he mainly worked the streets during third and fourth shifts. As a Street Supervisor he had been shot at while responding to many incidents and accidents. He had also spent many hours responding to the 35W bridge collapse. In 2010, he was promoted to Assistant Transportation Manager and in 2018 he was promoted again to Transportation Manager. One of his most rewarding times at Metro Transit was when he was given a major role in overseeing the construction of the new North Loop Garage (at a price tag of 128M) and then given the honor of being the Transportation Manager of that Garage. He was so proud of that garage and he really loved the people at work.
Bobby was united in marriage to Bradley Schnitzler on September 10, 2011, in Las Vegas. They made their home in Maple Grove, MN. Bobby loved visiting and spending time with his close friends and always, and I mean always, insisted on picking up the tab. He enjoyed traveling. He and Brad traveled often not only state side, but internationally to places such as Paris, London, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, the Caribbean several times, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Mexico. One place that he (35+ years) and Brad visited every year was Las Vegas. As he posted on Facebook, our last trip in September was the hardest one. "My last. So many memories. So much happiness. Thanks, Vegas, for all the smiles!"
Bobby was a gamer, playing many types of board games and on-line gaming such as Dungeon & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Slots, Startrek, and Spore to name a few. It is through his on-line gaming that he has friends all over the states and around the world. Bobby was a collector of comic books (over 4,000), and player of Magic The Gathering. He was a very avid fan of anything Marvel, Star Wars, and DC.
Bobby showed the ultimate humility (and love), by putting others ahead of himself. He wanted everybody to be a good person. He left a powerful legacy of hard work, encouragement, dedication, and compassion.
Bobby whole heartly loved the children that Brad brought to their union and loved being grandfather as the family grew. He could not wait to get Christmas lists and birthday gifts because he wanted to be in charge of shopping. His motto was "It isn't what they need; but what do they want?"
Bobby's mother married his father while stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He was very proud of his Japanese heritage, so much so, that Brad was immersed in a whole new type of cuisine and culture. One example was of our many trips that found us in Seattle for the Bon Odori Festival, a Japanese celebration honoring the spirits of the ancestors.
Bobby is survived by his husband, Brad Schnitzler of Maple Grove, his adorable cat Loki, three children: Amy (Dan Dupay) of St. Michael MN, Aaron (Rebecca) Schnitzler of Albertville, MN and Alan (Nikki) Schnitzler of Delano MN; seven grandchildren: Isaac, Julia, & Mya Dupay of St. Michael, MN; Eliot & Ella Schnitzler of Albertville, MN; Miles & Lydia Schnitzler of Delano. Four siblings: Linda (David) Mathews of Bardstown KY, Deborah (Jeff) Thiry of Green Bay WI, Gary (Patti) Andress of Menomonie WI, and Brenda (Steve Stillman) McClelland of Menomonie WI; in addition to many nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Allen & Fusako (Mickey) Andress; his father-in-law Anthony Schnitzler; and his beloved cats Fyre, Smoke, Kazi, and Ronin.
Bobby courageously battled cancer for five years, passing peacefully at home on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was 59 years old. Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Funeral Chapel in
Crystal, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the celebration at the chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal MN.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Methodist Home Hospice Care and the nurses with Treasured Season Homecare.
