Bobby John Bowles, a devoted family man, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Oxford, Mississippi, at the age of 80. Born on August 16, 1944, in Sledge, Mississippi, Bobby lived a life rich in love, service, and passion for his family and community.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 9, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Crowder Cemetery in Crowder, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Retiring from Crown, Cork and Seal in Batesville, MS, Bobby dedicated himself to his work. He was a faithful member of Goodwill Church of God, where he passionately served as a church leader for over 50 years. His commitment to faith extended beyond leadership; he fulfilled his role as a Sunday School Teacher with grace and enthusiasm, touching the lives of many in the congregation.
Bobby was known for his love of sports, particularly as a huge fan of the Ole Miss Rebels. He also possessed a green thumb, taking joy in raising a garden each summer. Bobby found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life, often spending time outside on his swing, watching the people go by.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Geneva Dale Mitchell Bowles of Lambert, MS, and their daughter, Sherry Bowles Bailey (Phil). He leaves behind four treasured grandchildren, Phillips Gates Bailey, Braxton Reaves Bailey (Gracie), Hunter Bailey, and Halle Bailey, as well as five great-grandchildren, Lawson Bo Bailey, Caroline Fane Bailey, Maddox Bailey Smith, Catherine Claire Ingram, and Jude Beckett Ingram. Bobby was also deeply loved by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Nona Mae West Bowles, his sister Mary Alice Whitten, and his brother Jimmy Bowles.
Bobby John Bowles will be remembered not only for his unwavering faith and dedication to his family and church but also for the warmth and kindness he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be missed, and his memory will be cherished by all those whose lives he touched.
