Kay worked for a time as a respiratory therapist at McAlester Regional Hospital and later spent several years as a waitress at the Crowder Café, where she enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. On February 21, 1992, she married Larry Odell Collier in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her children and grandchildren were truly her pride and joy, and she loved every opportunity to spend time with them. Kay also enjoyed gardening, tending both flowers and vegetables, and found happiness in watching things grow. She loved to travel and see the world with her friends, taking several memorable cruises over the years.
Kay was a longtime member of Crowder Church of Christ, where she faithfully assisted with Vacation Bible School for many years and enjoyed being part of the church family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Buster C. LeFlore; mother, Florence Clanton; husband, Larry Collier; brother, Lynn E. LeFlore; and sister, Lorraine Lossing.
Kay is survived by her son, Buster Garrett and Sonya of Eufaula; daughter, Mechelle Taggart and husband Phillip of Vancouver, Washington; and step-son, Ethan Collier and wife Julie of McAlester.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jake Taggart and wife Sabrina, Jude Taggart and wife Cassidy, Kelly Garrett and wife Casey, Shenia Mick, Dakota Garrett and wife McKayla, Mackie'Lee Garrett, and Aiden Collier; great-grandchildren, Waylon Garrett, Gracelynn Garrett, and Jameson Taggart. Additional survivors include her nieces, Cheryl Cody and Sheila LeFlore; nephews, Lynn LeFlore and wife, Angie, Gregg Lossing, Warren Lossing, Bill Harris and Kevin Abrahamsen, along with many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Kay will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
