Bobby Coe Burke of Monticello, KY, was born June 2, 1934, and departed this life Friday, August 29, 2025, reaching the age of 91 years.

He married the love of his life, Mary White Burke, and they were married for 65 years. Unto this union were two sons and one daughter.

Bobby talked about becoming a Christian when he was eighteen years old, and was a lifelong member of Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. Bobby loved his church family and was honored to serve as the church door greeter. Bobby had a smile on his face and a love to talk with everyone. He remained faithful, going to church until his health kept him from attending.

Bobby began working at a young age with his dad, Roy Burke, driving and working on log trucks. He was a mechanic by trade. He worked at Cooper & Ramsey in his early years and later for Bobby York. Bobby was recognized as one of the best carburetor men as he loved using his mechanical skills rebuilding them. Bobby was elected as Wayne County Jailer when he served from 1974-1978 and was re-elected for a second term.

Bobby had a love for music. He loved to sing and play the guitar with many loved ones and friends. Many of his hobbies over the years were coon hunting with his Walker Breed Coonhounds and Competition Shooting at local matches.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter; Steve (Marla) Burke, Mark (Beverly) Burke, and Becky (Tim) Humble, as well as a Grandson, Josh (Becca) Humble, a Granddaughter, Hannah (Christian) Long, four great-grandchildren; Dalton Humble, Sydney Humble, Myra Burke Humble, and Ella Long; four brothers, Randall Burke, Donald Burke, Dewey Burke, and Danny Burke; and three sisters, Barbara Carrender, Sheila Gehring, and Charlotte Phillips; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Flossie (Wilson) Burke; two brothers, Junior Burke and Billy Burke; four sisters, Allene Bell, Kathleen Harris, Carolyn "Sue" Eller, and (Infancy) Betty Ann Burke… Along with his loving wife, Mary White Burke.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, relative, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to express a big thank you to all of Dad's special & loving caretakers who helped and were a big part of his life up until his passing. Each had a special place in his heart.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service time at 11:00 a.m. at the Elk Spring Valley Church. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Elk Spring Valley Church Building Fund and Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
