Obituary
Bobby Gene Day, 89, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, entered peacefully into the full presence of the Lord on May 4, 2023.
Bob is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Howard and Dera Day. He is survived by his lovely wife, Mildred Day; his children Debbie Ackerman and husband Roy of Lubbock, Texas, Bryan Day and wife Trish of Arvada, Colorado, Randy Day and wife Lisa of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ron Day and wife Bertha of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brother Roy Day and wife Sue of Huntsville, Alabama; and treasured extended family and friends.
Bobby was born on September 1, 1933, in Lamesa, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1951 and married his high school sweetheart. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1955 and a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in 1960. Bob served for nine years as an instructor pilot in the United States Air Force before enjoying a 31-year career as a member of Gulton Industries' Data Services Division.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bob is remembered as a generous and kind man who loved the Lord and his family and strived to reflect Christ in his daily life. Whether woodworking, handyman projects, electrical engineering for Nasa space projects, or serving his church family, Bob was meticulous and thoughtful in everything he did. He leaves behind a roadmap of integrity for his family.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 20, at 1:00 PM, at Sandia Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
