Bobby Estes Obituary

Visit the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar website to view the full obituary.
Bobby Estes, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at the age of 71, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on November 9, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, Bobby's life was marked by unwavering love for his family, a gentle spirit, and a commitment to his community.
For many years, Bobby worked as an office equipment technician, sharing his skills and knowledge until his retirement in 2020. He had lived in Hardeman County since 2001, where he touched many lives and created countless memories, having previously resided in Memphis.
An active member of Parrans Chapel Baptist Church, Bobby dedicated his time teaching Sunday School and working with the children's church program, leaving a lasting impact on the younger generations. His playful nature shone brightly through his role as "Santa Claus" for the community, bringing joy and smiles to many. Bobby found immense pleasure in fishing and camping, particularly enjoying the serene beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. In recent years, he delighted audiences as "Grandpa" in the Hardeman County Cancer Society's "Hee Haw" show and actively participated in productions with the Hardeman County Arts Council. His love for disc golf was matched only by his affection for horses, a passion that followed him from his days of giving horse and carriage rides in downtown Memphis.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Estes of Grand Valley Lakes, whom he married on June 6, 1987, at Highland Heights Baptist Church in Memphis. He was the proud father of Jeffrey Dale Estes and Kelly of Liberty Hill, TX, Robert Andrew Estes and Jessica of Katy, TX, and Wesley Dean Estes and Amanda of Bolivar. He also is survived by his dear brothers, Terry Estes and Marsha of Birmingham, AL, and Russell Estes of Batesville, MS. He also leaves behind brother-in-law, Weldon Cotton of Arizona, stepmother and her husband, Anita and Jimmy Williams of Olive Branch, MS, and six grandchildren who were the light of his life: Lyndon Scott, Logan, Addie, Mollie, Madison, and Wylder Estes. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dale Estes and Dorothy Lake Estes, and siblings, Shannon and Helen Estes (brother and sister-in-law), Susan Cotton (sister), and Cheryl Estes (sister-in-law). Though they may have departed this world, their memories will be a source of comfort and strength for those he leaves behind.
As we gather to celebrate Bobby's life, we will remember the laughter he brought to our days, his boundless kindness, and unwavering love. The visitation will take place from 5 PM to 7 PM on November 25, 2025, and again from 9:30 AM to 11 AM on November 26, 2025, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM on the same day, concluding with interment at Parrans Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bobby Estes was a light in the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories shared and the love he so freely gave. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Parrans Chapel Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
