Bobby D. George, 85, of Lake City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He had lived in Lake City for over 50 years. He was born on August 31, 1940, to R. B. and Vinnie George. Bobby was a member of the Monette Church of Christ. He retired as a Captain with the Arkansas State University Police Department. He served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was the 2nd Vice Commander of American Legion Post #136 and was a member of the Craighead County Retired Teachers Association. Through his law enforcement connections, he was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #8. He assisted his wife by being the unofficial assistant to the Art Club, Cheerleading Squad and Yearbook sponsor. Bobby would never ask anybody to do anything he wouldn’t do himself and believed of taking care of others before himself. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Jean George.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marie George, of the home; son, Michael George and wife Rhonda of Lake City; daughter, Wanda Jeanne George of Monette; brothers, Gerald George and wife Sandra of Jonesboro; Myron George of the Finch Community; six grandchildren, Jessica, Garrett, Ashlee, Delaney, Eli, and Mikah; great grandchildren Isaac, Hudson, Rollins, Emma, and Benton; niece, Shana Richardson and nephews, Kelly George and Kolby George.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00, Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Monette Church of Christ with Josh Parnell and Kenny Diaz officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery with Michael Exum, Jack McCann, Rick Thomas, Gary Etter, Tom Carroll, Bill Craig, Brandon Decker, James Skinner, Dennis Cobb and Jimmy Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Bono Class of 1959, any Law Enforcement officer who had dealing with Bobby; Glen Swindle, Donnie Hutecheson, Amber Richbourgh, Rick Elliott and Doug Thomas. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.
