Bobby Elvis Horton, known as Bob, passed away surrounded by family on December 28th 2025 at the age of 89. A lifelong resident of Texas, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather whose life was marked by quiet strength, deep love for family, and unwavering Christian faith.
Bob was proceeded in death by his father, Wiliam Elvis Horton; his mother Lula Mae Horton, his sister Valda Horton Grumbles; his son in law, William Wyatt; grandsons Jeremy Rogers and Robert Nickles Leslie; and great grandson Joseph Bradley James
He is survived by his wife Grace Fonville Horton, his oldest daughter, Tammy Horton Wyatt of Friendswood, Texas, his son Eddie Dwain Horton, and wife Kathryn Mallory Horton of Weatherford, Texas, and his youngest daughter, Lydia Horton Leslie, and husband Robert Ted Leslie of Edmond, Oklahoma
Bob leaves a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Derek Michael Horton; John Robert Horton and wife Catherine Horton; Kathryn Horton Williams and husband Nathan Williams; Justin Daniel Wyatt and wife Lea DiPetrillo Wyatt; Joshua Thomas Wyatt; Julia Allison Wyatt; Mitchell Leslie; Lauren Leslie James and her husband Cameron James
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren; Sunshine Rogers, Weston Pena, McKenna Wyatt, Karder Wyatt, Allison Wyatt, June Williams, Zae Zae Williams, Katie Mae Williams, Elle Haggard, Jett James, and John James.
Bob's life began in 1936 in Mills County, Texas. He was so proud to be from Mills County. He even had a little green book containing his family's history in Mill's County and would open that book and have them read about their origins to anyone who would listen.
Bob had a number of careers in his lifetime, from helping his parents build, remodel, and repair houses in the area, working in the oil field, auto mechanic at various car dealerships and auto repair shops in an around Weatherford, C.P.A for the state of Texas traveling across the country examining insurance companies, and making personalized quilts at the horse shows. Bob's daughter once said, "there was nothing that her father couldn't do!"
In these early years, Bob went on a fateful blind date in Desdemona, Texas where he met the love of his life, Grace Fonville. It was love at first sight. For one year, Bob would drive 3 hours and 15 minutes from Midland, Texas to Desdemona each weekend and sleep in the back seat of his 57 high performance Chevy Bel Air, just to be able to date Grace each Saturday night and then attend church with her family the following Sunday morning. Bob married Grace, on August 1, 1959, and the rest as they say "is history!"
Bob was a devout Christian who lived his faith daily, leading by example through kindness, humility and service to others. His life reflected a steadfast belief in the Lord, integrity and a deep love for his family, and unsurpassed morals and values. Bob was a faithful member of local churches in the cities he lived, and a long- time member of Second Baptist Church of Houston and served for a number of years in the prayer room. Bob will be remembered for his gentle spirit and strong faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
