Bobby Gean Lewis passed away quietly at his home near Imboden, Arkansas on Friday January 23, 2026 surrounded by his family and his dog Little Bit.
He was born on September 23, 1939 at Lost Cane, Arkansas in Mississippi County near Big Lake to Frank Garfield Lewis Sr and Exie Arbell Stutts Lewis.
Bob left Mississippi county to go to California to serve as a Pfc in the Marines. He would meet the love of his life, Shirley Mae Rood. They were married 67 years. After training and working in construction, they would return to Arkansas and would eventually build their home and family on Jackson Road in Randolph County, Arkansas. They later purchased a farm on Highway 115 outside Imboden.
He was a dedicated member of the Imboden First Baptist Church, where he served as song leader and Bible class teacher for many years. Bob lived and shared the message given by Jesus Christ.
Bob ran the MFA Feeder Pig market in Imboden for several years and then worked for the Arkansas State Forestry Department in the Dalton office before retiring. Bob was involved in his community. He volunteered his time to help cook pancakes for the Imboden Friends of the Library Pancake breakfast each year. Bob also quietly checked on and assisted many elderly and homebound in the Imboden area. He and Shirley shared their love and cared for many youngsters in their home. Bob was noted as a consummate gardener, a wood craftsman, an articulate teller of stories and someone willing to share his abilities. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, Paw Paw and Pa Bob.
Those he leaves to mourn his passing are: his wife Shirley Mae Rood Lewis, his children: Barbara Lewis (Wally) Upton and James (Becky) Lewis, his grandchildren: Jeremy Upton, Leah Guthrie, Kevin Upton, Brianna Stephenson, Mandy Crowe, Mica Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Lewis, Aaron Lewis and Rachel Yescas. Bob leaves 16 great grandchildren: Gracie, Samuel and Noah Stephenson, Elliana, Kinsley, Jack Carter, Jaxon, and Vivian Upton, Danny James, Benjamin and Lewis Yescas, Hannah and Makayla Spence, Emma, Addie and Ella Crowe.
Preceding Bobby in death were his parents Frank Garfield and Exie Lewis, his beloved daughter, Tonya Lewis Guthrie, his brothers Jack, Frank Jr., Harold and Donald Lewis and sister Frankie Ann Lewis.
Funeral visitation will be held at Imboden First Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m. on Friday January 30, 2026 with funeral services following at 11 a. m. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Imboden under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jeremy Upton, Kevin Upton, Aaron Lewis, Samuel Stephenson, Noah Stephenson and Brian Crowe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Imboden First Baptist Church or Cedar Glade Baptist Camp.
