Funeral service for Mr. Bobby Ray Lowery, 90, of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, December 28, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Rev. Grant Bamburg officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until service time Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Mr. Lowery was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Lowery was an avid horseman and belonged to the Rough Riders Association, where he won the All-Around Cowboy several years. He also was a former AQHA Judge. Mr. Lowery built the softball field at OCS and there is an Arch and Monument naming the field after him. He was an avid supporter of OCS, but he filmed Sterlington High School football games for over 10 years. He was also an avid deer hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Ruth Roberts Lowery; siblings, Maurice (Morris) Lowery, Elner (Bilbo) Lowery, Marvin Lowery, Glenn Lowery, Royce Lowery, Billy Ray (B.R.) Lowery, and sister, Dorothy Fife.
Survivors include wife of 71 years, Jackie Lowery; brother, Jimmy Lowery and wife Katherine; children, Keith Lowery and wife Tanya, Brian Lowery, Dawn Lowery Brazell and husband Brad, and Craig Lowery and wife Kristi; grandchildren, Kyle Lowery (Morgan), Karla Pierce (Brandon), Jimmy Stutz (Nicole), Cassey Charrier (Spencer), Ashley Higgins, Julia Vincent (Drake), Jessica Brazell, Drew Lowery, and Landon Lowery; great grandchildren, Sadie, Ella, Livvy, Maddi, Joanna, Wesley, Walker, Blair, Lizzie, Ethan, Ryland, and Reed; and being one of nine children a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Kyle Lowery, Jim Lowery, Ricky Fife, Drew Lowery, Landon Lowery, Ethan Higgins, Brandon Pierce, and Jimmy Stutz.
