Bobby Munoz, 55, of Wharton, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born on February 15, 1970, in Richmond, Texas, to Valentin and Natalia Figirova Munoz.
A graduate of East Bernard High School, Bobby later married the love of his life, Jennifer Lopez. Together they made their home in Wharton, where they became a beloved part of the community.Bobby was a founding member of the Wharton County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and took great pride in helping raise scholarship funds for hispanic students. He also spent many years as a at Junior's Smokehouse Processing Plant in El Campo. Bobby’s greatest joy came from the people around him. He never met a stranger, and he made time for everyone—always with a smile, a laugh, or a story to share. He loved fishing, visiting with friends and family, and was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren, who knew him lovingly as “Popo.” A faithful husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, Bobby’s love and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Valentin and Natalia Figirova Munoz, and his brother, John Figirova.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Munoz; sons Mark and wife Norma, Matthew, and Alex and wife Uriah; daughters Angela and husband Michael, and Jessica and husband David. He is also survived by his sister Janie Vandagriff and husband Robert; brothers Jessie Munoz and wife Paulette, Joe Munoz and wife Melissa, Narcisso Figirova and wife Gloria, Inez Figirova, Martin Figirova and wife Celia, and Abraham Figirova; sister-in-law Carrie Ann. Bobby’s grandchildren—Joshua, Mariah, Nichole, Daniel, Ruben, Anthony, Angell, Emily, Julian, Santiago, Natalie, Michael, Christian, Matthew, Emma, and Hensley—and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Wharton Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at www.whartonfuneralhome.com.
