Bobby Ray Plate

Bobby "Bob" Ray Platé, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC on February 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Louis LeRoy Platé and Edna Grace Crapps Platé. Bob was a proud Navy veteran. After his time serving our country, he worked as a retail banker for 30 years with First National Bank of SC / Wachovia Bank as a regional executive for the Clover/Lake Wylie area of South Carolina. After retiring from the Bank, he spent the next decade building custom homes from Columbia to Charlotte. After retiring again, he spent his time enjoying golf, working in his yard and handyman work around his church, Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church in Waxhaw, NC. He cherished his wife of 54 years, Sandy, his two sons, their wives and his five grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Diane Couch Platé; eldest son, Chris and his wife, Dana, and grandchildren, Alexa and Connor; his youngest son, Kevin and his wife, Jennifer, and grandchildren, Lila, Evie, and Neely. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Roy Platé and Ron Platé.
The funeral service for Bob will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, May 31st, at Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church, 8515 Rea Road, Waxhaw, North Carolina 28173. Father Todd Dill will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at Saint Margaret's Columbarium adjacent to the church sanctuary. The family will receive friends at the church following the inurnment.
