Mark Doherty

Mark Peter Doherty, 67, of Fort Mill, SC, died on January 21st, 2026.

Mark was born on October 22nd, 1958 in Manchester, CT to the late Gerald Doherty of Vernon, CT and to Mary Chappell (née Patricca) of Vernon, CT. Mark attended Manchester High School

before studying Computer Science at Central Connecticut State University, working in the information technology field.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Gerald Doherty, his stepmother Eleanor Doherty McGrath, and his stepfather Gary Chappell. He is survived by his devoted wife Carol (née Vaillancourt) of Fort Mill, SC. He is also survived by adoring children Emma (Cristian) Lingurariu of Mokena, IL, Brian Doherty and Peter Doherty, both of Fort Mill, SC, and was a beloved Nunu to grandchildren Hubert, Beatrice, and Ramona Lingurariu. He also leaves behind his loving mother-in-law Jane Barry of Fort Mill, SC.

Mark was a cherished brother to Michael (Alison) Doherty of Hebron, CT, Thomas (Patricia) Doherty of Manchester, CT, Christopher (Diane) Chappell of Stark, NH, and Amy (David) Blanco of Stark, NH. He also left behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and more friends than we can count.

Mark had the ability to light up a room when he walked in, and converse with just about anyone. His love of music made him the life of any party, his sentimental side led him to cherish every one of the memories he made throughout his 67 years, and his zest for life led him and his wife to live experiences that made for many fun stories. He could always be counted on to document

and save all the wonderful memories he and his family and friends shared. If something needed to be repaired all you had to do was ask. What a privilege it was to have Mark in all of our lives, and to experience the joy his presence brought to every one of us.

Calling hours will be held at John F. Tierney Funeral Home in Manchester, CT, from 5pm - 7pm Thursday, February 12th, and from 10am - 12pm on Friday, February 13th, 2026, followed by a luncheon at Georgina's Restaurant in Bolton, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation (https://mhopus.org) would be greatly appreciated, so every child can share Mark's love of music and the power it held to put a smile on his face.
