In Loving Memory of Bobby Ferris Pounds
Bobby Ferris Pounds, aged 81, passed away on November 10, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on June 6, 1944, to Ferris and Elma Glee Pounds, Bobby spent his formative years in Newcastle, Texas, where he developed the values and passions that would shape his life.
Bobby was an amateur horse connoisseur (aka collector). He loved horses and the cowboy way of life. Bobby was a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent for 31 years serving in multiple Texas school districts, including Bryson, Chillicothe, and Newcastle. Known for always sharing “Abundant Blessings” to all, he loved counseling and encouraging everyone he encountered. His impact on students and staff have left lingering memories and affection in his community.
His greatest passion was his love for Jesus and his family. His firm believe in Jesus assured his eternity with his heavenly Father. He loved reading God’s word and wanted all to know Jesus. His greatest treasure was his family and listening to his daughters sing. Affectionately known as Grampsy Poo, he loved attending sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always made sure to eat dessert first at family gatherings. He was an all-star athlete at Newcastle ISD and dreamed of having his own personal football team even though he only had one son. However, he did produce his own cheerleading squad that he personally named.
Family and Loved Ones
Bobby is survived by his loving family, including his daughters: Suzanne Yevette Brooks and husband Michael of Bryson; Rebecca Annette Huey of Stephenville; Aimee Nicolette Sawyer and husband Bill of Paducah; and Meredith Monette DeBorde and husband Eric of Bardwell; son, Robert Pounds; and bonus daughter, Donna McCarthy, and husband Cecil.
Bobby’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Blake Brooks and wife Katelynn, Jordan Farmer and husband Will, Bryce Huey and wife Betzabeth, Ben Huey, Caitlin Hawkins, Gabrielle Urdiales and husband Ed, Brayden and Brigham DeBorde, Colin Pounds and wife Keeley, Jaden Nickel, and Carly Pounds.
He was blessed with great grandchildren: Grayson and Savannah Brooks, Haven Farmer, and Everlee Pounds. Additionally, Bobby is survived by his sister Joyce Owen, and various nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Ferris and Elma Glee Pounds.
