BOBBY LEE SMITH SR, a pillar of family devotion and a man life was marked by unwavering dedication and a lively spirit, passed away in Dallas, TX, on March 9, 202. Born on May 10,1941, in the same city where he departed this world, Bobby's was one rooted in the place of his beginnings and the embrace the community he cherished.
Bobby retired from Mattel, where he as a truck driver, a role which he exemplified his belief in taking care of business—steadfast, reliable, and unyielding in his commitment. His personality was unique blend of sternness and humor; a jokester who could break the ice with a joke and was always straightforward, a protector and provider who put family first above all else Those who knew him remember his firmness balanced by a genuine warmth—a man who guarded his loved ones and stood tall as their foundation His passions were as vivid as his personality. Drag racing thrilled him, the roar of engines mir his enthusiasm for life. He spent countless hours working on his prized ’57 Chevy truck, labor love that spoke to his hands-on. Bobby's affection extended to the, where he delighted in barbecuing for family gatherings, and with his ever-present camera, he captured moments of joy and togetherness, filming every family with. Even his quieter moments, watching movies, at a man who cherished the simple pleasures of life.
Above all, Bobby's proudest accomplishments his family relationships. He was a protective patriarch, holding family close in heart and in life. He leaves behind beloved wife, Johnnie F. Smith; his son, Bobby Jr alongside Lashunda; and his daughters, Becky Davis (Willie), Beverly Adams (Jeff), and Pamela Smith. legacy extends through14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren—a sprawling testament to the enduring imprint of his love. They'll carry forward the values he instilled: strength laughter and an indomitable family spirit Bobby's journey was also marked by loss; he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Fannie Smith, three children, Barry Smith, Bryan Smith, and Beverly Smith Hunter. Yet his life a beacon of resilience and care, embracing both joy and sorrow with unshaken resolve.
The community will gather to Bobby’s memory and celebrate the life he lived with vigor and devotion. View will held at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas on March 18 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and again on March 19 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. His funeral service will commence March 20 at 11:00 AM at SHILOH MBC, located at 921 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, TX. Following the service a will take place at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 1311 Murdock Road, Dallas, at 2:00 PM.
Bobby Lee Smith’s story is etched into the fabric of those he loved and protected. His humor, his fortitude, his unbreakable dedication to family—these are the echoes he leaves behind, resounding powerfully in the hearts of all who had the honor to know him. In remembering Bobby, recall a man lived with purpose, loved without reservation, and whose spirit will eternally blaze—much like engines he so loved to race.
