Bobby Lynn Starr
October 11, 1938 - March 6, 2025
Bobby Starr was born to Roy Starr and Billye Bates Starr on October 11, 1938 in Miles, TX. After graduating from San Angelo High School on May 28, 1957, he embarked on a path that would shape not only his future but touch countless lives along the way. He attended San Angelo College where he focused on general studies.
He subsequently joined the United States Air Force. Bobby's service in the Air Force showcased his exceptional abilities: - Specialized German language training at Georgetown University - Critical role in monitoring East German pilot communications - Distinguished member of the Air Force Pistol shooting team where he competed internationally, combining duty with his passion for marksmanship.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force on February 10, 1965, he began his career in the Insurance Industry. Bobby channeled his dedication into the insurance industry, where he established himself as a top sales agent, qualified multiple times for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table Award, Built lasting relationships with clients until his retirement in 2003.
Rather than settling into a quiet retirement, Bobby's commitment to serving others led him to join the Carpenter's Helpers group at First Baptist Church. He made many close friends, and enjoyed countless hours of fellowship with them as they served the needs of others. He was well known for his large BBQ pit and his love of smoking chicken, ribs, and sausage for many Carpenter's Helpers fellowship events.
Bobby leaves behind his wife of 39 years Mary Starr. He also leaves behind children Rick Starr, Debbie Yates (Chuck Yates) and Paul Starr from first wife Nancy Starr. Grandchildren Savannah Starr, Randy Yates, Joshua Yates, Zach Starr, Dillon Starr and Brady Starr. Great grandchildren Kaitlyn Yates, Addison Yates, Titus Yates, Hadley Yates, Charlie Yates, Emmy Yates. Bobby is also survived by siblings Gene Starr (Betty), Sandra Collins, and Jerry Starr (Elizabeth) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby Starr's life reminds us that true success isn't measured in accolades alone, but in the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind. His dedication to country, career, community, and family serves as an inspiration for future generations. While he may have left this world on March 6, 2025, his impact continues through the countless lives he enriched and the memories he created.
Celebration of Life will be at 11am on Saturday March 22nd at Wimberley Christian Church, 13706 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley TX.
