Bobby Gene Tidwell, 95, lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. He will be laid to rest at 11:00am, Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Willow Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00pm at East Side Baptist Church, Haskell, with Rev. Terry Bunch and Rev Jonathan Stubbs officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00pm Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Ave D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Bobby was born July 27, 1929, in Haskell, Texas, the son of the late Robert E. Tidwell and Connie Collins Tidwell. On March 26, 1948, he married Lena Mae Chapman in Haskell, Texas. They built a beautiful life together and celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary this past March. Bobby was a lifelong farmer and rancher who took great pride in working the land and serving his community. He served faithfully on the boards of the Haskell Co-op Gin and the Haskell Housing Authority. He is an army veteran that served his country in the Korean War. His life was deeply rooted in faith. He was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, Choir member, devoted Deacon at East Side Baptist Church and volunteered his time within his church where needed for many years. Bobby also enjoyed woodworking and RV camping with family and friends. One of his favorite ways to spend time was gathering with the coffee crew at the Double A, sharing stories, laughter, and friendship.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirl Burchel, his baby brother; niece Kayla Wilson and many beloved family and friends.
Bobby was a devoted husband, Dad, and Papa. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lena Mae Tidwell of Haskell; daughter, Diane Kirkham and husband, Mike of Abilene, Texas; son, David Tidwell of Haskell, Texas; Grandchildren, Jennifer Ashenfelter and husband, Gentry of Abilene, Texas, Joanne Josselet of Abilene, Texas, Austin Harris of Alamogordo, New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Mason Josselet, Gauge Patterson, Truett and Addison Ashenfelter; sister, Geral Darden of Haskell, Texas, extended family, and a host of dear friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff at Haskell Heath Care Center, the residents that he built friendships with and Gentiva Hospice staff for loving and caring for Bobby in the best way.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to, donations may be made in memory of Bobby to East Side Baptist Church or a charity of your choosing.
