Bobby Dean Wells passed away on December 27, 2024 in Dayton, Ohio. After four months of illness and the most admirable and courageous fight, he decided it was time to rest. He is survived by his two children, Kimberly Soares and DeeVonn Chapman; his grandchildren Quortney Tolliver and DeeVonn Walker, and great grandchildren, D'Mani Walker, and Morris Walker; his sister, Patricia Chillious and brother-in-law Drew H. Chillious, III; and his niece Danielle Tong and Matt Tong, and great nephews Eli and Emory Tong. He is also survived by his brothers and very best friends, since toddlerhood and second grade respectively, Richard Simms and William (Buddy) Vanleer, and a host of extended family. Bobby is currently being greeted by his mother and father, Lou Minor Wells and Elisha (Jim) Wells, his brothers Charles (Chucky) Wells, and Larry Wells.
Bobby was born on November 12, 1950, in Vidalia, Georgia to Lou Minor and Elisha (Jim) Wells. Bobby graduated from Glenville High school in Cleveland, Ohio in January, 1969. Two weeks after graduation, Bobby attended United States Navy Boot Camp, and then served for fourteen months in combat in the Vietnam War receiving an honorable discharge, as well as receiving several medals and awards of honor. Upon returning home, Bobby Wells began a career with Veterans Affairs, as a Veterans Service Rep, working to ensure that veterans received the benefits commensurate with their service. He retired in 2007 after 30 years of service.
Throughout his life and in retirement, Bobby enjoyed several hobbies. He was a voracious reader, an artist, and a connoisseur of John Wayne films and others of the western and SciFi genre. Above all else, Bobby's love of his family, his sense of humor, and his appreciation of a well-timed joke will be among the memories that he leaves with his family.
