Bobby Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the community, passed away on April 1, 2025. We give thanks for the 80 years of his wonderful life and for what he has meant to his family, his country, and his friends.
Bobby was born December 2, 1944, in Buncombe County to the late Glenn Wilson and the late Sadie Warren Wilson. He was always proud of his family heritage and growing up in the "Candler Town" Community. Bobby was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Enka High School, where he will forever be remembered as a true and loyal friend to everyone.
Answering the call to serve his country, Bobby proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1965. He bravely served during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Bobby's dedication to his military career exemplified his great love for his country.
Following his military service, Bobby embarked on a successful career in the construction industry. He was a skilled builder and also talented in masonry. Bobby's work can be admired in many notable projects and also countless residential homes in Haywood County and surrounding counties. Meeting the love of his life, Rachel Lemmons, and their marriage on September 19, 1970, was truly one of the most important moments in Bobby's life. They have shared 54 years of marriage and have been blessed with a wonderful family throughout the years.
Beyond his successful working career, Bobby embraced his passion for horses, spending countless hours riding trails all across North Carolina and neighboring states. An avid horseman and a proud participant in events and horse shows in the Tennessee Walking Horse Association, Bobby formed a close-knit "Barn Family" among the horse community. He was definitely a man who was admired and respected for his dedication and commitment to horses and all equestrians.
His life was a testament to hard work, always being on the go, and a true willingness to help others. Whether on the job site, riding the trail, or just lending a hand to someone in need, his spirit touched everyone he met.
His life journey is a shining example of a life well-lived. A life defined by his love for his family, service to his country, his great love and concern for horses, helping anyone in need, and also leaving our world a better place with his talent and craftsmanship. Bobby shall never be forgotten- his memory remains forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith Aldridge; his brothers, Calvin Wilson and Jim Wilson; and his sisters, Carolyn Orlowski and Judith Holcombe
Surviving are his loving wife, Rachel Linda Lemmons Wilson; his children, Tamera Diane Aldridge, Donez Lance (James), Kenny Aldridge; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sisters, Pat Triminal and Cynthia Parton, and a brother, Tom Wilson.
A private celebration of life to honor Bobby will be held at a later date.
