Bobby Lee Young, 73, of Levelland passed from this life on August 3, 2023. Visitation will from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Meadow Cemetery.
He was born July 30, 1950 in Brownfield to JW and Mozelle Young. Bobby grew up in Meadow and graduated from Meadow High School. He was a good student and excelled in track and field and football. Bobby also enjoyed water skiing.
After high school, Bobby went to Dallas for vocational training in electronics. He farmed for a few years and then worked in the oilfield business. During this time, he worked at Harrelson Construction, Verna Drilling and West Texas Casing where he worked alongside his father, JW and brothers, Joe and Jerry for many years.
On October 20, 1989, Bobby began his long journey with Wal-Mart where he loved all those he worked with. In October, it would have been 34 years.
Bobby was considered a workaholic with a heart. He loved working in his yard and wouldn’t even consider letting anyone else mow the yard, even after he fell ill. When he was on vacation, Bobby was either building a fence or putting in a patio for someone. He was well thought of by many all over town.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, JW Young; son, Danny Young; brother, Joe Young; and sister-in-law, Darla Young.
He is survived by his wife, Gayla Young of Levelland; mother, Mozelle Young of Andrews; son, Brian Young of Rhode Island; daughter, Valerie Young of Lubbock; step-sons, Jimmie Denton and Mitch Denton; step-daughter, Natalie Denton; sister, Mary (Mike) Brock; brothers, Gary (Christine) Young and Jerry Young; 5 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
