Rex Alan Slaughter, born January 1, 1952, met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face February 11, 2026, at 1:15 PM.

Born in Clovis New Mexico, Rex lived most of his life working on cars and dragging main street with his cousins. He graduated from Clovis High School. Later moving to Lubbock, Rex worked at Carnation Milk and the 19th street Fina Station.

In 1976, Rex began working for the Aramark Corporation and retired from there in 2007. He then moved to Shallowater, Texas, where he resided until his death.

On April 4, 2009, Rex married his wife Cyndi. She resides at their home.

Rex is survived by his wife Cyndi, his children, daughter Shelly Didyoung (Shawn), grandchildren Shay, Shyann and Sky, and great grandchildren Ariel, Grady, Wyatt and Emery, daughter D’Lynn Reed (Reagan), grandchildren Jathan and Jaryn, daughter Kelsey Rickard (Joe), grandchildren Aujah and Cam, and son Rob Slaughter. He is also survived by his sister Jann Hon (Bob), Jennifer (Finley Froggy Knothead), Steven (Cameron, Megan (Nathan), Murphy, sister Diane Fremgen and children and sister Sharon Leinheiser and children.

A memorial service will be held at West Texas Church, 8322 CR 6500 (West Erskine) Lubbock, TX 79416, Tuesday February 17th, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Ted Currington officiating. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Rex’s name to the Go Fund Me that has been set up for his medical expenses.
