It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bodie Lyn Matthews. Bodie peacefully passed away on August 9, 2025 at the age of 63. He was a loving husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather, brother, and friend, with an unwavering love for hunting and fishing.
Bodie Lyn Matthews was born on January 21, 1962, in Denver, Colorado. Bodie dedicated his professional life to construction for 45 years, working for his dad, running his own company—Matthews Woodworks—then with Woodstone Builders, and finally retiring from Cornerstone Building services, after 9 years. He was respected for his attention to detail, his ability to build strong relationships with co-workers, and his willingness to do whatever it took to get the job done.
Outside of work, Bodie found joy in hunting, fishing, working with his dad on the farm, and tossing a ball with his dachshund puppy, Dash. He loved spending time with family—taking vacations together, making countless trips to Bass Pro Shops and Silver Dollar City, taking his grandkids hunting and fishing, and going antiquing with his wife. Bodie never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Bodie will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, strong work ethic, endless hunting stories, and the lasting mark of his craftsmanship in places like Stormy Point Village in Branson, Missouri; Homewood Suites Hotel; Pantry Convenience Store; Silver Dollar City’s Heartland Home Furnishings; Sadie’s Pretzel Café; and Fried Fancies—along with countless other projects across Missouri and Arkansas.
Bodie leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dianne Matthews; their devoted children, Brittany Matthews, Ciara Clayton and husband Austin, and Hunter Matthews and wife Allison; and his cherished grandchildren, Emma, Jessie, and Jolene Clayton. He is also survived by his father, Roy Matthews, and wife Karen; siblings Cliff Matthews and wife Michele, Tracy Livingston and husband Bryan, and Clint Matthews and wife Belinda; as well as many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends and extended family.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life service, 1:00 p.m.,Satuday, August 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church Ozark in Ozark, Missouri. The family invites you to a reception immediately following the service to share stories of Bodie and to enjoy all his favorite sweet and salty snacks.
