Bonita J. Walker, 71, of Rensselaer, IN passed away Wednesday evening, April 23, 2025 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Lafe, Arkansas on April 28, 1953, daughter of the late Herbert Sheely and Barbara (Wegner) Swallow.
Bonny worked as a secretary during most of her career. Her last position was working as a cashier at Walgreen's in Rensselaer, where she enjoyed interacting with her customers and coworkers.
Bonny loved crossword puzzles, playing cards, and writing. She most cherished the time she spent with her family. She was very dedicated to her faith in Jesus.
She is survived by her three daughters: Catherine (David) Lape of Rensselaer, IN, Barbara (Kyle) Baer of West Lafayette, IN, and Kendal (Justin) Ford of Noblesville, IN; nine grandchildren: Kimberly (Caleb) Voss, Natasha (Kyle) Daniels, Jasmine (Dane) Van Houten, Laura (Josh) Heilman, Megan Lape, Kaden Baer, Caleb Ford, Jalynn Ford, and Elijah Ford; and six great-grandchildren: Nehemiah Voss, Samuel Voss, Wyllalynn Van Houten, Zaidian Van Houten, Tristan Heilman, and Grayson Heilman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frederick Sheely and John Swallow.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life service for Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Faith Pentecostal Church, 3385 U.S. 231, Rensselaer, IN 47978.
Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.LBDA.org.
