Bonna Lee Kirkhoff, daughter of Frank and Laura Hill, born on June 29, 1926, in California, Missouri. She passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022, with her daughter, Doris by her side. She was 95 years old.
She was united in marriage to William Kirkhoff in 1982. They raised a daughter and son together.
Bonna and her family moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1968. She was a homemaker for many years and then took a position with AAA Employment Agency, where she won numerous awards for performance. After 17 years, she became a volunteer at Cox Hospital. Bonna then worked for Shelter Insurance for 20 years, retiring in December 2011. She was a member of Eastern Star Queen City Chapter 226. She spent her retirement volunteering for community needs. Bonna won the Nova award in 2021 for community service.
Bonna loved traveling, animals, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, visiting with her neighbors, and attending her church, Second Baptist of Springfield, Missouri. She never met a stranger and was the Queen of garage sales. Bonna was an avid fan of the Missouri State Lady Bears.
Her favorite verse was Luke 6:31, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Bonna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Hill; Bill Kirkhoff, husband; Russell Aldredge, son; and her beloved dog Foxy.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Aldredge; granddaughter Ashley Krone (Aldredge); grandson Ryan Aldredge; four great-grandchildren; Russell's long term companion of 16 years, Tracy Mobbs; and numerous family and friends.
Visitation services will be held at Greenlawn East Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15 from 5-7pm.
Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn East Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 16 at 10am.
Funeral procession following service to Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
