Bonnie Bregenzer Obituary
Alhambra, IL - Bonnie Ruth Bregenzer, 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 3:25 a.m., at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.
She was born in Formoso, KS, on September 14, 1930, the daughter of the late James E. and Pearl (Foster) Street. Bonnie married Merle T. Kivett in 1950. She later married Edward "Ed" Leo Bregenzer on July 31, 1978.
Bonnie worked for the Bethalto School District as the curriculum materials director for 28 years before her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Bethalto United Methodist Church. Bonnie and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively across the country and spent winters in Florida and summers camping at Cool Creek.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Violet) Kivett of Dorsey, Gordon (Sara) Kivett of Bethalto, and Mark (Barb) Kivett of Alton; her stepchildren, Bradley Bregenger of Hettiack, and Pamela Taylor Manning of Hettick; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; sisters, Athol Pearson, and Elizabeth Nelson; brothers, Maurice Street, and Foster Street; and stepchildren, Diane Higgins, Scott Bregenzer, Larry Bregenzer, and Chris Bregenzer.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate. Inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to Bethalto United Methodist Church.
