Bonnie Joe "Bo" Bridges, age 97½, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Terrell, Texas. Born at home on June 9, 1928, in the Rock Hill Community of Quitman, Texas, Bonnie lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, dedication to family, and a deep commitment to his community.
Bonnie was the son of Roy Roscoe Bridges and Annie Mae Hausenfluke Bridges. He graduated from Quitman High School with the Class of 1945 and soon after answered the call to serve his country. Beginning February 11, 1946, he served in the United States Naval Service – Coast Guard during World War II. His time in uniform reflected his lifelong values of duty and selflessness.
On May 7, 1949, Bonnie married Elenita Faye Vaughn in Rockwall, Texas. Their union was one of enduring love and partnership until her passing. Together they built a life rooted in faith-Bonnie was of the Baptist faith-and community involvement.
Professionally, Bonnie dedicated himself to caring for others as a nursing home administrator at Locust Grove Nursing Home in
Wills Point, Texas (Hiram Community). He retired on his 50th birthday in 1978 after years of compassionate leadership and service to the elderly.
Bonnie made Wills Point his home for over six decades after previously residing in Quitman. He was an active member of several organizations that reflected his wide-ranging interests and generous spirit. He belonged to the R.V. Club and Clock Association and was a proud member of the Wills Point Rotary Club. He was one of the dedicated founding members of the College Mound Water Corporation.
A man of many talents and passions, Bonnie had a particular love for antique clock repair-a hobby that combined patience with precision and brought joy both to him and those who benefited from his craftsmanship.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters Vicki Mullin of Terrell, Texas, and Joyce Bridges of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren Doug Mullin and wife Melanie; Melissa Robinson and husband Steve; Joshua Mullin and Karla Gonzalez; Jason Watson and wife Linda; Jennifer Sarkany; and Christopher Ebbs; great-grandchildren Seth, Trent, Abagail, Sydney, Alec, Carter, Chloe, Adasyn, Kayle, Kyra, Ryan, Cole, Wyatt, Waylon, Audrey; and great-great-grandchild Atlas.
Bonnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elenita Faye Vaughn Bridges; his parents Roy Roscoe Bridges and Annie Mae Hausenfluke Bridges; and his son Robert Glenn Bridges.
Throughout nearly a century of life filled with purpose and kindness, Bonnie touched countless lives through his generosity and unwavering character. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held on November 28, 2025, at Rock Hill Cemetery in Quitman, Texas.
