Bonnie Joann DeMott passed in the presence of her family on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Bonnie lived a full life to the age of 87 before succumbing to Alzheimer's disease.
Bonnie Joann Finder was born in Detroit, MI on December 5, 1937 to Carl and Juanita (Kennedy) Finder. She was the beloved younger sister of Robert Finder.
Bonnie married Gerald E. DeMott in June, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry passed of lung cancer in April 1983 at the early age of 45. Jerry's life insurance policy, partnership buyout, and social security afforded Bonnie the means to fund the college education of her children and live in retirement for over 40 years. Bonnie remained widowed and boldly independent for the duration of her life.
Bonnie raised her family in Farmington, MI. Once the kids were on their own, she followed her friend Louise Barnes to the Ahwatukee retirement community in Phoenix, AZ. Bonnie enjoyed the middle of her life living in Arizona and visiting Michigan. One of Bonnie's greatest joys was hosting friends and family in the Arizona sunshine. Bonnie returned to Ann Arbor, MI in April 2016 living in the home of her son and family. Bonnie was forever grateful for the family assistance provided in the final nine years of her life. Bonnie loved visits by her daughter and children who live in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Bonnie is survived by her 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Her son Mark DeMott, married to Trina Knous, has 2 daughters, Gabrielle Marie, born 2001, and Cassandra Joann, born 2003. Bonnie's daughter Debra DeMott has 2 children, daughter Alexandra DeMott Scott born 1997, and Nicholas Fred Scott born 2000.
Bonnie was very proud that she taught her children to experience their lives with integrity, kindness, humor and independence. Bonnie treasured the fact that her adult grandchildren maintained the close relationships that she nurtured over the course of their early years.
Bonnie will always be remembered for love of animals. One or more dogs were constant companions in her life. Bonnie especially loved to engage in conversations discussing people's pets.
Over Bonnie's lifetime kindness, generosity and concern for others endeared her to many close friends. These friendships provided a life of laughs and adventures.
Mark, Trina, Deb, Alex, Nic, Gabby and Cassy are forever grateful for Bonnie enriching their lives with loving guidance and support. We will miss her. We are happy that her spirit is free of the earthly body that constrained her ability to thrive in life. The family prays for her eternal reunion with Jerry (husband), and all her dear pets and friends.
Bonnie's warmth and personality was felt by anyone who came in contact with her. Bonnie's impact on the world will live on through the people she touched and loved.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Monday, July 7, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. Funeral Services will
then be held at 11:30 A.M. with Pastor Drex Morton officiating.
