Robert "Slash" DeMott, age 63, of Freeport, Florida, passed away on July 26, 2025 in Miramar Beach, Florida. He was born on October 8, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York, to Robert DeMott and Joan Nobre DeMott.

A passionate motorcycle enthusiast and lifelong sports fan, Slash lived life with intensity and heart. Whether cruising the open roads or cheering from his favorite armchair, he proudly supported his beloved New York Mets, the New York Giants, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, teams that matched his unwavering loyalty and spirit.

A true Patriot through and through, Slash bled red, white, and blue. His love for his country wasn't just spoken, it was lived. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, dedicating years of his life to protecting the freedoms he so deeply cherished. After he retired with his distinguished military service, he continued contributing to the nation's advancement by working for Boeing, where he remained until his well-earned retirement.

His faith was his compass. A devoted Catholic, Slash was a proud and active member of Saint Rita Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. His belief in God and service to others shone through in the way he lived his life every single day.

Those who knew Slash remember him not only for his strength and integrity but for his boundless kindness and generous spirit. He had a booming laugh, a quick wit, and a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest day. As a husband, father, and friend, he was steady, selfless, and deeply loving, always putting others before himself.

Slash's legacy is one of courage, devotion, and joy. He rode through life with purpose, cheered with passion, served with honor, and loved without limit.

Slash is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joanne DeMott; daughter, Joan DeMott Hallam; grandchildren, Vada, Athena and Mason; sister, Sharon DeMott Spillane and her husband, Michael; niece, Heather Spillane Spradlin and her husband, James; nephew, Michael Spillane; aunt, Ginger Linnick; and numerous cousins and extended family members.

A Mass will be held at Saint Rita Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. A committal service will be held, with full military honors, at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

Thank you for always treating the little airman with respect and kindness. It truly brightened my day to see you, and I often felt a sense of guilt when I inadvertently damaged the PEDs. Your heartfelt reminders about the importance of caring for our equipment truly resonated with me. Even now, I make it a priority to ensure my airmen value the important things and take care of them. You will be deeply missed, but your passion for life and the impact you've made on all of us will forever remain in our hearts. -

Joanne & Joan, my deepest condolences to you and the entire family. I remember meeting Slash during an exercise at Elemendorf AFB, Alaska. He was the Ex. planner and made sure we had everything we needed. He was so nice, helpful and funny. I was saddened to hear of his passing today from another coworker. Hugs and prayers for all.

Slash and I used to ride together and after I retired from motorcycle riding I would see him occasionally at the Eglin commissary. That was the last place I saw him and as always I was greeted by his warm smile and a bear hug.
Robert was a good person and brightened the spirits of those lucky enough to share time with him.
My heartfelt condolences to his family.
