Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc.Bonnie L. Eberly, 77, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at Moravian Manor. Born on November 9, 1947, in Reading, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Miriam (Master) Montag, and the loving wife of G. Robert Eberly, 54 years.
Bonnie spent over two decades teaching elementary school students in the Ephrata School District. She received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education from Millersville University. Beyond her professional achievements, Bonnie was deeply involved in her community, dedicating 41 years to the Ephrata Lions Club. She held various leadership roles, including that of president of Lioness and Lions, LEO advisor, as well as serving on various District 14D committees. Her contributions earned her recognition as a Melvin Jones Fellow, PA Fellow, and the International Leadership Award. These honors and many more reflected her dedication and service to the community.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church was an important part of her life as a worshiping member; serving on the Altar Guild, as a Youth Advisor, member of the Lutheran Church Women and tutoring at the after-school program. Bonnie loved gathering with her family, especially with her grandson, Austin. She enjoyed swimming, camping, playing cards, and traveling. Hawaii was one of her favorite destinations. Bonnie will be fondly remembered for her dedication to education, her active involvement in her community, and the warmth she brought to her family and friends.
Along with her husband, Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Denise Hills, wife of Stephen Hills, and Melissa Strunk wife of Eric Strunk; and her grandson, Austin Strunk. Bonnie is predeceased by her sister, Gail Greaser.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, both taking place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 167 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522. Bonnie’s final resting place will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Elevator Fund at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522.
