Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curry Funeral Home - Dyersburg on Oct. 27, 2025.
Bonnie Foster was lovingly called Granny by everyone that knew her. Her grandchildren brought the most joy to her life. When you ask her what she wanted in life, she always said for everyone to be happy.
She is survived by her 3 children, Bobbi Davis Maxwell (Ira) of Newfoundland, Canada, Jerri Davis Lumley of
Dyersburg, Tennessee and Jack Foster of Dyersburg. Five grandchildren, Nicki Moore (Ben) of Martin, Tennessee, Lesley Moore, Carly Reyes, Colton Foster and Eli Foster all of Dyersburg. 5 Great-Grandchildren, Maclin, Warren and Oliver Moore, Sebastian Adkins and Vincent Ellington, sister Nellie Smith, brothers Sonny, Merv and Kent Smith
She is predeceased by her first husband, Jerald Davis and his sister, Pauline Armstrong, her parents Irma & Hirtle Smith, sisters Julia Chase, Charlotte Newell, Mabel Smith, Nellie Smith and brothers Charlie, Arthur and Lovell Smith.
Bonnie was born November 1, 1945, and passed away October 25, 2025, 1 week short of her 80th birthday. She was born on The Hawk, Cape Sable Island in Nova Scotia, Canada. She met and married Jerald Davis who was in the United States Air Force and stationed in Baccaro, Nova Scotia, Canada.
After they were married, they were transferred to Cape Cod, Massachusetts where their daughter, Bobbi, was born. The following year they were transferred to Tripoli, Libya, Africa where their daughter, Jerri, was born and they remained for 3 years. The following year her husband was killed in the Vietnam War. At the age of 24 she became a widow with 2 children aged 4 and 6.
She remarried and had a son, Jack Foster and built a life in Pioneer Subdivision. Each summer the family would go to Nova Scotia for vacation and see the Canadian family who lived on the sandy beaches of The Hawk.
Bonnie worked at the Dyer County Sheriff's Department. She started out as a Dispatcher then worked and trained to become the 1st female Deputy Sheriff in Dyer County.
After retiring from The State of Tennessee Northwest Correctional Center, she would go back and forth to Canada for longer periods of time. Bonnie was a very strong woman and a survivor. Life taught her very early how to work toward solutions instead of focusing on the problem.
She truly lived a full life through adventure and unique experiences.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home.
