Bonnie Louise Magee was born on March 21, 1937 in Jefferson Davis County to Noah Ellis and Erma Elizabeth Lee Griffith. A graduate of Clem High School, Mrs. Magee attended the Buckley's Beauty School in Prentiss where she trained to become a licensed cosmetologist. After completing her training, she worked for Faye's Beauty Shop in Magee and eventually opened up her own shop in the Clem Community. She had several past times that she enjoyed immensely, including raising a garden and canning vegetables and also growing flowers. When her Zinnias would bloom in the Spring, Mrs. Magee received great joy from making arrangements and sharing them with others, as well as placing them in her church. Mrs. Magee will also be remembered as one who cared for and nurtured others. Many in her community will remember her carrying food to and checking on the sick and shut-in. Besides her beloved sports of fishing and hunting turkey and deer, Mrs. Magee was also known as a great cook and her coconut cake was absolutely delicious! But above all, she served her Lord faithfully at the Phalti Baptist Church where she had served as Chairman of the Hostess Committee and also the Sunday School Secretary.
Mrs. Magee was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Terry Magee, as well as an infant son, Jeffry Magee.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Max Magee of Clem; her daughter, Wanda Davis (Ricky) of Clem; her son, Dr. Jerry Glenn Magee of Blountsville, AL; and a sister, Shirley Smith of Cleveland. The legacy of their Mawmaw will also live on through her grandchildren, Leslee Maddox, Courtney Dyess and T.J. Magee as well as her 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
