Bonnie Mae Waln, 94, beloved mother and wife, passed away on August 28, 2025, with her loving sons at her bedside. She was born on March 9, 1931, to Cecil and Murtis Gruben in Sterling, Colorado. Her early life was marked by tragedy when Murtis died of tuberculosis when Bonnie was 6 months old. Bonnie lived with friends of the family until Cecil remarried to Eileen some 5 years later. Cecil and Eileen's children Lotus and Jimmy soon joined the family.

Bonnie met her husband-to-be Victor Waln at Haxtun High School. She was a hall monitor, and he came to her attention by defying the rules she was supposed to enforce. She graduated from high school in 1949. She married Victor on September 4, 1950, after he became a Lutheran to please her parents. They settled in Denver, Colorado. She temporarily moved back home while Victor was serving in the army in Korea.

Bonnie dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 67 years and their children Marsha, Curtis, Robert, and Victor Jr. Bonnie and Victor owned the Busy Bee Laundry, where she worked alongside her husband for over 50 years. She was a member of the Advent Lutheran Church in Westminster, Colorado.

The family's great pleasure in life was taking camping vacations, on weekends to nearby campgrounds, and at least once a year to major destinations all around the country. The family did miss vacation one year because the children were so engrossed in the soap opera Dark Shadows that they refused to go.

After the death of her beloved husband she moved to Loveland, Colorado to live with her son Curt. In her retirement she enjoyed observing nature and trying new restaurants.

She was preceded in her death by her husband Victor, daughter Marsha Malet, son Robert and granddaughter Martian Malet.

She is survived by her sons Curtis and Victor, grandchildren Michael Malet, Rhiannon Waln, Joseph Waln, and her sister Lotus Alexander. We will miss her and always carry her memory in our hearts.

Services will be on Wed the10th at 10:00am Advent Lutheran Church, 7979 Meade Street, Westminster, CO. Burial to follow at 12:00pm at Crown hill Cemetery
