Bonnita "Bonnie" Danna, age 80, of McKeesport, died at home on July 23, 2025. Born December 20, 1944, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Baran) Ruschak and the wife of James D. Danna for 60 years.
A dedicated phlebotomist, Bonnita served with unwavering care at Shadyside, Braddock, Mercy, and McKeesport Hospitals. She was not only committed to her profession but also devoted herself to supporting those in need as a home health caregiver and loving mom. Her gentle spirit and nurturing disposition made a profound difference in countless lives.
Bonnita's passion for community and connection shone brightly in her founding of the Mon-Yough Deaf Awareness Association. Through this meaningful initiative, she organized Christmas parties and events, fostering inclusivity and joy within the community. She was also very active with the Western PA School for the Deaf (WPSD) Mayday event. Bonnita believed in the power of communication, always making an effort to stay in touch with family and friends through heartfelt phone calls, keeping her connections alive with love and laughter. A woman of strong faith, Bonita prayed daily and maintained a clean, welcoming home that reflected her loving nature. She loved reading medical journals and was the one to call about anything medical. Bonnita was unconditionally loving and giving in many ways, never giving up even in the very end.
She is survived by daughters, Marci Danna and Michelle (Eric Kapolka) Danna; sister, Arlene (Robert) Squires; brother, Gary (Amy) Ruschak; nephews, Eric (Melinda) Ruschak, Ted (Kathy Wilson) Marsh, Michael Squires, Joseph (Julie) Squires; niece, Lori Dangle; great-nieces, Ally Dangle, Hannah Marsh, Chole Squires. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Dominic and Mary Danna.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
