Boyce Yeager "Buzzy" Dixon
1949 – 2025
Boyce Yeager "Buzzy" Dixon, age 76, resident of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away on October 28, 2025, at his home.
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Buzzy graduated from Central High School and went on to have a long and dedicated career with Memphis Light, Gas & Water (MLGW), where he worked as a welder and later served as a general foreman before retiring in 2001.
On May 17, 1991, Buzzy married the love of his life, Glenda Weaver Dixon. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with laughter, family, and adventure. Buzzy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and competing in trap shooting. He also enjoyed fishing in bass tournaments several times a year and spending time on the tennis court.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Glenda Dixon of Oakland, TN; two daughters, Jennifer “Jenny” Hood (Rob) of Marion, AR, and Jamie Byars (John) of Lenoir City, TN; two step-sons, Temple Brett of Memphis, TN, and Tod Brett (Pam) of Johnson City, TN; two sisters, Emily Jean Spencer of Eads, TN, and Mable Jane Dixon of Cordova, TN; five grandchildren, Brittany Virrueta of Leandor, TX, Curtis Brett and Sidney Brett of Johnson City, TN, Kaitlyn Goodroe of Southaven, MS, and Lynlee Byars of Lenoir City, TN; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Dixon and Phelton “Faye” Yeager Dixon.
A visitation for Buzzy will be on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Services for Buzzy will follow at 2 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment for Buzzy will be private.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Fayette County Animal Rescue or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
