Boyd Burleson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services on Jan. 8, 2026.
Boyd J. Burleson, 86, of Asheville, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Boyd was born June 17, 1939, in Buncombe County to the late Cecil and Clota McKinney Burleson. Known as a hard worker, Boyd loved working outside; keeping everything trimmed and tidy. He was always finding an outdoor project to do. Boyd also loved helping others, volunteering, hunting, fishing, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. Boyd was an avid collector of "things" including hess trucks, racecars, bulls, and tools. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Clontz Burleson; daughter, Sharon Anderson (Dwayne) of Marion; son, Jeff Burleson (Kim) of Asheville; sisters, Jeri Craine (Joe) of Morehead City, Lena Frady (Wes) of Indiana, and Vina Cole (Steve) of Asheville; brother, Houston Burleson (Sandi) of Asheville; grandchildren, Tera Anderson, Whitley Burleson, Levi Anderson, and Avery Burleson; great grandchildren, Lily, Walker and Koah Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family members, Jack and Maggie Atkins, and Wayne and Lisa Atkins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brent Bolick and Duane Hood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memory Care, 100 Far Horizons Lane, Asheville, NC 28803 or Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
