Boyd “Buddy” Elwood Riley,69, of 5411 Racine Rd, Randleman, NC, passed away Wednesday January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was born July 2,1955 in Guilford County NC to Joseph William Riley Sr and Helen Chilton Riley.
Buddy was a loving husband, father, “pappy”, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Buddy was owner and operator of Redman’s Auto Sales and Riley Motors, Inc, throughout his career.
At an early age he took interest in mechanics with auto mechanics becoming his passion.
He developed a love for late model cars and rebuilding them, especially his first accomplished restoration of his 54 Ford when he was a teenager. He also developed a love for foreign cars, especially Fiats.
He loved the country and farms and excitedly operated farming and heavy equipment at every opportunity.
He loved meeting people, anywhere, anytime. He never met a stranger.
He loved to barter, trade and collect, buy and sale.
He especially loved to just spontaneously “go for rides” which could be taking his dad for hotdogs on Thursdays and day trips everywhere. Most weekends he was headed to where ever his parents wanted to go. Due to his parents not driving anymore Buddy made sure they went where they wanted to go. He loved spending time with family.
Buddy was naturally gifted with quick wit, humor and imagination. He left a lasting impression and smiles on all that met him and spent any time with him.
Buddy traveled through his life depositing much laughter and joy into the lives of others and the world was far better with him in it.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Berta Siegner Riley of the home; son Curtis Riley of Randleman, Grandson Camden Jones-Riley of Thomasville; Sisters Alicia Culler (Steve),of High Point, Joni Johnson of Thomasville and Tara Ball of Randleman. Coming from a very large family he is survived by a “whole litany” of special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great=great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Joseph William Riley and sister Lynn Robinson and Audrey “Titter” Smith.
In celebrating his life, a Memorial Service will be held in the Student Ministry Center on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Pleasant Garden Church, 1415 Neelley Rd, Pleasant Garden NC 27313 with Pastor Larry D. Hoyle officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 3:00 PM until the service beginning at 4:00 PM.
