Brad Earl Ellis, 72, of West Bountiful, Utah, passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side after a brief battle with cancer on October 15, 2025.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1953 to Rawney and Lucille Ellis, the second of 10 children. Brad graduated from Viewmont High School in 1971. He started working at Bangerter Farms when he was 7. He bought his first car when he was 14 and used it to get to jobs. He has always loved working and was always the hardest worker. He started in the construction trade when he was in high school and found a love for concrete doing footings and foundations.
He met the love of his life, Calene Holbrook, in October 1975, and they were married less than two months later December 6, 1975. They were later sealed in the Bountiful Temple March 11, 1999. Their union was blessed with three amazing sons, Nathan (Amanda) Ellis, Lance, and Jeff (Tally) Ellis. They have six grandchildren: William, Emmaleigh, Elijah, Briella, Greyson, and Vivian who brought unlimited joy to Brad. He loved holding them when they were young and getting to know them as they grew. He truly loved his family and it showed in his interactions with his grandchildren.
He started his own business, Ellis Construction Inc. in 1978 and worked side-by-side with his sons Nate and Jeff until he retired October 15, 2025. Lance helped take care of the office work.
Brad loved serving in the church and around his neighborhood. One of the hardest things for him was not being able to volunteer and help out. One of his favorite callings was as High Priest Group Leader, where he had to stretch and grow. Other callings were ward clerk, primary worker, and home teacher.
Brad found immense joy working at the Bountiful Temple with his sweetheart Calene. They served as ordinance workers for 25 years by each other’s side and were often seen holding hands by others at the temple, often being asked if they were newlyweds.
He was preceded in death by Rawney (father), and Lucille (mother). He is survived by his beautiful sweetheart Calene, three loving sons and six incredible grandchildren. Also by his brothers and sisters, Reid, Bart, Jay, Rick, Brian, Linda, Mike, Diane, and Angela.
