Bradley Shapiro, 86, Music Producer Extraordinaire, Takes His Final Bow:
Bradley Shapiro, born August 15, 1938, in Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at 86. Though he's now accompanied by his Mother, Rosie O. Shapiro, Father, Larry Shapiro, and Sister, Elaine Braverman, in the great beyond, Brad left behind a musical legacy that will be spinning on turntables and playlists for generations.
A true maestro behind the scenes, Brad produced legendary R&B artists like James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Isaac Hayes, and Millie Jackson, helping shape an era's soundtrack. His passion for music wasn't just a job; it was a lifestyle that kept his soul grooving from the recording studios of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, life of the party in Miami, Florida, to the peaceful shores of Lake Norman, North Carolina, and in his later years, Lebanon, Tennessee.
Brad's love for his daughter, Nina Shapiro, was as deep as his love for a funky bass line. She was his greatest hit, the one that didn't get played out no matter how many times he heard it. Family members Gregg and Stacy Braverman, Steve Braverman, and Justin Stone are also mourning Brad's passing.
Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, Brad was never one to miss a good party-or a good story. He had a way of making everyone around him feel like they were part of his entourage, whether they were a platinum-selling artist or a neighbor just dropping by for a chat.
In lieu of flowers, spin a little R&B in his honor, or better yet, turn the volume up loud. After all, Brad would want you to hear the music the way it was meant to be heard-bold, brassy, and full of soul.
He's off to the ultimate jam session now, but his rhythm will live on in all of us.
Keep on dancing, Brad.
