Bradd Richter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Biglin's Mortuary - O'Neill on Mar. 2, 2026.
A Memorial Service for Bradd Richter, age 72, of Doniphan, Nebraska and formerly of O'Neill will be at 11:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in O'Neill. Pastor Gary Binder will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Scottville Cemetery. Bradd passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at his home in Doniphan. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Bradd Scott Richter was born January 3, 1954, in O'Neill, Nebraska, to Betty and Marvin Richter. He grew up on the family ranch north of O'Neill and attended School District #60 at Opportunity before the family moved to town in 1962. He then attended O'Neill Public School, where he graduated in 1972. During high school, Bradd enjoyed playing trumpet and participating in football and wrestling.

Following graduation, Bradd attended Norfolk Junior College, earning a degree in criminal justice. He briefly worked for the Madison, Nebraska Police Department before changing career paths and entering the baking industry. Bradd began as an Old Home Bread route driver and steadily worked his way up within the company, earning his Bachelor of Science degree along the way. He dedicated 40 years to sales in the bakery business before retiring in 2014.

Bradd was baptized at Dorsey Presbyterian Church and confirmed at O'Neill Presbyterian Church. During his college years at Norfolk Junior College, Bradd and Micki attended a church event that would become a defining moment in their lives. At that gathering, Bradd felt called to step forward and begin his adult walk with Christ.

In 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Micki Chaney, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill and they shared 52 wonderful years together. Bradd had a strong Christian faith and enjoyed attending Bible study. He loved fishing, golfing, making wine, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Michelle Richter of Doniphan; children Casey (Jessica) Richter of Doniphan, Cory (Lori) Richter of Lincoln, Kalee (Matthew) Battey of Omaha, and Colby (Amber) Richter of Hastings; brothers D. Floyd (Joy) Richter of O'Neill and Jack (Tiffanie) Richter of Funk, NE; sister Trudy (Dennis) Rath of Atkinson; sister-in-law, Kerry Richter of Norfolk; and 10 grandchildren: Riley, Gracie, Charlee, Chaney, Faith, Cooper, Marcus, Molly, Ima, and Cohen. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelsey Richter; his parents, Betty and Marvin Richter; his infant brother, Lonnie Dean Richter; and his brothers, Brian Richter and Duane Richter.

To honor the life of Bradd, we are asking friends and family to consider donating blood and platelets. Your donation could make a life-saving difference and would be a powerful tribute in his memory.
