"Well done and welcome home My good and faithful servant." With those words Brad was welcomed by Jesus into his eternal home in Heaven on December 12, 2025, at 11:22am.
Bradley Daryl Smith was born on April 30, 1951, at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in
Aurora, Colorado to Carl F. and Betty J. Smith. The family of three would grow to become a family of five welcoming sister Debra in 1953 and brother Guy in 1955. During Brad's early years Carl was in the Navy and the family moved frequently before his father retired to serve as an Undersheriff in
Bozeman, MT during Brad's junior high years. While in Bozeman he made lifelong friends and enjoyed hiking, alpine skiing, and rock and ice climbing. It was as a teen that Brad came to accept Christ as his savior at a Young Life meeting. After high school Brad attended MSU (in Bozeman) and graduated with a B.S. in Earth Science.
Upon graduating from college Brad moved to Ballarat in Victoria, Australia. He spent three years "Down Under" teaching, ski patrolling, making more lifelong friends, and riding his motorcycle across the country. He returned to the U.S. in 1976 promising to return to Australia one day, which he would do with his wife Patti in 2006.
1978 was a momentous year for Brad, he proposed to the love of his life Patti Burton in Tongue River Canyon (a place that would remain special to both of them), he earned his M.A. in Special Education from Eastern Montana College, he married Patti in Dayton, Wyoming on August 19th, and he started his post-graduate teaching career in Powell, Wyoming. In 1979 Brad and Patti changed their last name from Smith to the historical family name of Kremensek.
Brad and Patti's first daughter Kristine was born on May 1, 1981, in Walla Walla, Washington. The little family would find themselves moving to Alaska for a year where Brad was an itinerant Special Ed. teacher. Again, he made lifelong friends in Alaska. Wanting to be closer to both their families the couple made the decision to move to
Sheridan, Wyoming in 1982 and that is where Brad would live until Jesus called him home. On March 17, 1983, their youngest daughter Jessica was born.
In Sheridan Brad spent 13 years at the Wyoming State Girls' School as their science teacher and then assistant administrator before leaving to found and run Three Peaks Christian School as the headmaster. When Three Peaks closed after 10 wonderful years Brad continued on to Sagebrush Elementary School where he was a Special Ed. teacher before retiring in 2014. Along the way Brad was also an adjunct professor for UW, Chadron State, and Sheridan College.
Not one to just sit around, Brad had a servant's heart. He retired from teaching and became the Lay Pastor of Visitation at First Baptist Church as well as a commissioned chaplain through VOA. His home away from home was Java Moon (his favorite coffee shop on Sheridan's Main Street) where he would minister to many. Brad was a kind, gentle and humble man who loved to serve others and was known for crazy socks, hats, and ties. His laugh will be missed by all who loved him.
Brad is survived by his wife of over 47 years Patti. His two daughters are Kristine and Jessica. Kristine is married to Nick and has two boys, Carl and Ryan. Jessica has one daughter, Evelyn. Brad's two siblings (Deb and Guy) and their respective spouses (Dave and Jody). He has sister- in-law Kristine (husband Jeff) and their two boys (Jeff and Dallas) and one grandson, His other sister in-law is Tisha who has one son (Doug and his wife Shelby). Brad's brother has two children (Nicole (her husband Adam) and Collin) and two grandchildren. Brad's parents (Carl and Betty) and brother in law Scott met him at Heaven's pearly gate.
Brad's life verse was Micah 6:8. He will be missed by all who know him. He would want us to remind everyone that we can all have the hope of Christ that guided his life if we give our faith to the truth of Scripture that was the driving force for him and what made Brad the man that we all love.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the account set up at First Federal Savings Bank in Sheridan, Valor Academy in Sheridan (where he served as a board member sharing his decades of love for Christian education) or given to your local church. His service will be held at First Baptist Church in Sheridan on December 20th at 1:30pm.
