Bradley J. Massengill

Bradley "Brad" J. Massengill, 74, of Superior, died Monday November 24, 2025, at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Brad was born in Shell Lake, WI, on January 4, 1951, the son of Jerry Massengill and Elaine (Trautman) Massengill-Larson.

He graduated from Solon Springs High School with the class of 1969. He went on to serve his country in the US Army.

Brad married Jen Shaffer on May 8, 1975. They celebrated 50 years of marriage.

He worked for the BNSF Railroad as a brakeman/switchman, a hostler, and an engineer, retiring in 2011 after 42 years.

Brad enjoyed model railroading, going to bible study, and driving and working on his 1951 Studebaker Champion. He was artistic and enjoyed tinkering on projects. He served a term as President, as well as volunteered, for the Lake Superior Mississippi Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Felix Larson; son, Matthew James Massengill; grandchildren, Michael and Hope; and sister, Sherri Hoffman.

Brad is survived by his wife Jen; six children, Erin (Michael) Fry, Katie (Jason) Martin, Andy (Jill) Massengill, Jill (Chris) LaJoie, Lauren Massengill, and Dave Massengill; grandchildren, Oliver, Crew, Arden, Matthew, Mim, Mara, Faith, and Grace; and sisters, Terri Larson and Lorri (Mark) Lorentz.

A Celebration of Brad's Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 1:00 until 3:00p.m. at North Bay Community Church, 1316 E 5th St., Superior.
