The soldier stood and faced his God Which must always come to pass...
He hoped his shoes were shining Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and Said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't...
Because those of us who carry guns Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough.
But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here...
They never wanted me around Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod...
As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now you soldier,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Son, it is still so hard to believe that you are no longer here on earth with us in body, but I know you are always watching over the many people that love you. Family and friends have told me many times about how they have felt your presence at times. I will always have you in my heart. I will always be thankful for the many friends and family that have supported me through this time and I have begun to understand how special you are to everyone. Branden, I miss you so much, and one day we will be together again.

Branden..
The last time we talked was when you called me from Texas as I was moving into my new house.. and I am sorry for how we fell out of touch. You were soo sweet and always had the nicest things to say ..My cousin Chris and uncle joey told me the news and it is so weird to even think about. You were a funny kid & a great friend. I will miss your random phone calls but I know you're in a better place now though & I will see you soon :)

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

We would like to honor Branden as an American soldier who deserves to be recognized for his service and heroic deeds. We too have lost an American soldier. Spec. Nicholas Brown was KIA in Mosul, Iraq on January 22, 2007. He was in 2/7 Cav and loved being a soldier. After visiting Iwo Jima Admiral Nimitz said that in this place "Uncommon valor was a common virtue." I think we are seeing this in our soldiers in Iraq. Please accept our prayers and sympathy in these hard times. Thank you,

Branden,
The night you deployed Dani and i stood together watching the busses drive off.we were both fighting tears. i remember telling her not to let you see her cry and reassured her you would be home soon, after all 12 months wasnt that long.I uttered those words to her believing i was right and now I am so horribly sorry i was wrong. Know that J runs his fingers over your name on the wall on the fob every day.He says it gives him strength. Rest in peace Branden, watch over J and the rest of the guys in 3rd. He really misses you..As do i..

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I lost my son, Staff Sgt Daniel M. Morris, Nov. 25, 2006 while he was serving in Iraq. I feel a special connection to your family because our sons knew each other. In fact, Branden had gone to church with Daniel when they were still at Ft. Hood. Rev. Reed of New Testament Christian Church called me and told me that Branden had been a guest of Daniel's. I pray for you to have strength. I know that you will not let his memory or beliefs be forgotten. God be with you all!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Our hearts go out to you, God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Feel free to contact us at anytime. Rest in Peace Brandon, for you have fulfilled your duty son. Now its God's turn to re-assign you. You are all in our prayers.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

As I kiss my children goodnight tonight I will say a special prayer for your family. May God bless you and your family. Branden is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

To Branden's father, family, and Danielle:
My heart grieves with you over Branden's death. I can't say I know completely how you feel because I haven't walked in your shoes (and hope I never have to). However, I can imagine a part of the pain you must be feeling. Just a part of it is overwhelming.
Branden was a true hero and will never be forgotten. I have his photo on my desk next to the one of SSG Morris and will always keep it there.
I pray that the Lord gives you peace.

Heaven's Call
Heaven called and you were taken
So young to go, to young to know
The call of heaven did not wait
Your time here a short stay
You were called away
To be part of God’s everlasting garden
Borrowed seed from the Master
A small little bud that graced us with your beauty
Now returned upon heaven’s call
A finely chosen rose
Taken before it bloomed
Before your beauty had time to unfold
He is the Gardner and you his prize winning bud
Perhaps He seen a storm that you could not with stand
So he picked you before the wind would fall
The memories forever etched in our hearts
Our little bud now blooms
With the angels up on high

I didn't know Branden very well, I worked with his dad Charlie for about 10 years and only met Branden on a couple of occassions when he was a typical rebellious teenager. I have a son who's about a year older than Branden so this brought me and Charlie closer together and we'd spend our days talking about the kids, like parents do.
To Charlie I'd like to extend my deepest love, respect and sympathies. You were a great father and Branden is a product of the love and commitment you invested in him, he die's a hero's death and there can be no greater award than that.
I hope you will call on me for support, during this hardest of times for you. I am there for you.
To Branden, I would just like to say "Rest in Peace" hero, it's time to rest with the angels, you've already spent your time in hell. You will never be forgotten by me and the other people who's lives you touched. A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero only one. With the deepest love, respect and sadness, I salute you and say goodbye. Bruce and Debi Stiles and family

Father we entrust our brother Branden to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Branden in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We never truly know the sacrifice of a soldier until one close to us is gone. I experienced the loss of a wonderful young soldier on January 9th of this year. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Pfc. Cummings at this time of loss. His service to our country is an awesome and admirable commitment, and the price he paid will never be forgotten. Thank you, Branden, and all other soldiers both in heaven and on earth.
