Our sweet boy, Brandon Michael Peek, passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 42, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 12, 1982, to Justine Strebel and Todd Peek, Brandon was a sweet and gentle soul from the very beginning. He did not have a mean bone in his body. He was a devoted protector to his sister, Meagan and baby brother, Kyler.
At the age of six, Brandon was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, a challenge that changed his life forever. He spent the next 36 years, 1 month and 2 days fighting a fight no child should ever have to endure. Brandon remained forever young at heart, living with the mind of a seven-year-old and the spirit of an angel. His resilience and unwavering happiness were an inspiration to all who knew him. Brandon endured so many trials throughout his short life but no matter what, he always had a smile waiting for you.
In 1996, Brandon welcomed his sister, Bailee Holfeltz into the family, and she loved him very much. In 2000, Brandon graduated from Ben Lomond High School and later that same year, his family grew with the addition of his bonus mom, Tammy, and siblings, Kyle and Casey. For a period, he worked at the bishop’s storehouse and volunteered at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden.
Brandon had a passion for telling jokes and loved rocking out with his dad listening to Van Halen and Sammy Hagar. He loved books on tape and listened to the Harry Potter series more times than we can count. He adored cartoons like Mickey Mouse, Ninja Turtles, Dr. Seuss, Roger Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, and Toy Story. Brandon never tired of watching his cartoons and we were fortunate enough to watch Horton Hears a Who with him right before he passed.
In 2016, Brandon faced another setback that accelerated his cognitive decline, but his long-term memory remained sharp. He fondly remembered his trip to Disneyland at the age of six with his loving parents and he always recognized his aunts and uncles. Brandon loved asking about your favorite Looney Tunes character, no matter the time or place, even if it was 2:00 AM in the morning. His favorite meal was a McDonald’s Happy Meal with chicken nuggets, French-fries, and a Coke, always followed by his joyful exclamation, “Yummy, that tastes so good!”
Brandon was blessed with a loving family and many friends. If you ever met him, you instantly loved him.
He is survived by his mom, Justine Strebel; his dad and bonus mom, Todd and Tammy Peek; brothers, Kyler (Deandra) Peek and Kyle (Jenafer) Newman; sisters: Meagan (Jon) Campbell, Bailee (Nate) Hill, and Casey Weaver; nephews: Porter, Charlie, Oliver, and Bronson; and nieces, Kaylie, Kora, Remy, Penny, and Skylee.
Brandon and Skylee shared a birthday and was fortunate enough to have a big celebration for his 40th and her 1st. Brandon was a wonderful uncle, always playing with his nieces and nephews and teaching them the “right” way to play.
His gentle nature and loving spirit touched everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life for Brandon will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Tuscany Gardens in Roy, Utah (1856 W. 4500 S. Roy, Utah 84067). Please join us in celebrating his beautiful life. Parking is available behind the reception hall.
Fly high, Brandon! Until we meet again.
