Edward Earl Peek, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at his home in Leicester. Born on August 9, 1949, in Henderson County, Edward lived a life marked by steadfast faith, unwavering kindness, and deep love for his family.
A graduate of Erwin High School in 1968, Edward embarked on a career as a truck driver, faithfully serving Overnight and UPS for an impressive 40 years until his retirement in 2013. His commitment to his work was a testament to his strong work ethic and reliability.
Faith was the cornerstone of Edward’s life. As a cherished member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for the past 25 years, he found spiritual fulfillment and a sense of belonging that enriched his journey. His devotion to God was paramount, guiding his actions and shaping the compassionate, giving nature he shared generously with those around him.
Edward’s family was his greatest joy. He shared a profound love with his beloved wife, Deborah Swann Peek, to whom he was married on December 20, 1968. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family, including their three children: Connie Rogers and her husband Johnny, Philip Peek and his wife Misty, and Tim Peek and his wife Belinda. Edward delighted in his grandchildren—Sherry Cromer and her wife Ashley, Jennifer Rogers and her fiancé Tony Lamb, Ryan Freeman and his wife Krista, Ethan Rogers, SSG, US Army, Sara Peek, Emily Peek, Taylor Peek, and Mason Peek—cherishing a special bond with them fueled by his child-like spirit. This joyful connection extended to his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tony, Jonah, Brian, Cody, Roman, Peyton, Waylon, and Nolan, who brought immense light and happiness to his life.
Edward’s family circle also includes his sister, Brenda Hyatt, and her husband Frank, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members who treasured his kindness and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, TL Peek and Mary Sue King Peek, and his brother, Donald Peek, whose memories he held dear.
