Brenda L. Almquist

Reverend Brenda Almquist, age 65 of Nekoosa passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, surrounded by her loved ones.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the River Cities Christian Church in Wisconsin Rapids 869 Highway 73 South, Wisconsin Rapids. The service will follow, with Pastor Scott Kaczorowski officiating. Burial will be in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery.
Brenda was born in September 1956 in Black River Falls, WI to Kenneth and Katherine (Gass) Dolesy. She graduated from Black River Falls Senior High School and furthered her education at the University of Minnesota. She was employed as a medical laboratory technician. She married David Paar in 1978, and they later divorced. In 1999 she married Patrick Almquist in Jamaica. They made their home in Nekoosa. Brenda served as an EMT for the Nekoosa City Ambulance Service. She loved helping people. She had been a personal care giver for over a decade.
Later in life, Brenda found her true calling in Religion. She was deeply religious and a faithful Christian. She received her master's and bachelor's Degrees in Ministry and Chaplaincy. She was a former Pastor at the Babcock Community Church. She traveled on missions to Turkey, Romania, and Alaska. She ministered at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage and participated in various women's groups. She ran her own non-profit, Safe Harbor Ministry. She was the former President of the Tri-Cities Right to Life.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and wife. Her love for her children and grandchildren was inspiring. She enjoyed planning family vacations. Brenda loved camping, deer hunting, fishing, and her dogs Noble and Freedom. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a former member of The Sweet Adelines.
Brenda is survived by her Spouse: Patrick Almquist; Children: Michael Paar and Matthew (Kaila) Paar. Mother: Katherine Dolesy; Grandchildren: Korie, Alexis, and Baylor Paar; Siblings: Nancy (Doug) Mason, Sandy Dolesy, and Karen (Joel) Johnson; former Spouse: David Paar; and close friends Cheryl Larson, Charlene Goodwin, Lisa Szatkowski, and Jackie Pickett. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Dolesy, and her brother Michael Dolesy.
