Robert Gustin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ritchay Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Mar. 16, 2026.
Robert Lawrence Gustin passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. He was born on August 22, 1930, to the late Lawrence and Maurita (Reinke) Gustin.

A memorial service will be held at 10am on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards, Wisconsin.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy from September 25, 1950, to July 13, 1954, during the Korean War. Following his military service, he returned home and worked for many years at the Nekoosa Paper Mill until his retirement on January 1, 1991.

On September 22, 1956, he married Barbara Elaine Christenson. Together they built a loving home and raised their family, sharing many happy years together. Barbara preceded him in death.

Robert is survived by his children, Joan (Rick) Aron of Little Flock, Arkansas, Jean Gustin of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Steve (Paula) Gustin of El Cajon, California, Mark (Misty) Gustin of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Rodney Gustin of Grapevine, Texas, and Bradley (Mary) Gustin of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin Czlapinski, Joshua (Shala) Czlapinski, Seth Czlapinski, Jeremy (Jessica) Gustin, Matthew (Allison) Birkebak, Katarina (Jake) Connors, Grant Gustin, Marissa (Jack) Mortimer, Samantha (Tyler) Burgeson, and Kaitlyn (Jayden) Beyer; and by his great-grandchildren, Dylan Zettel, Lilly (Alex) Kordus, Natiley Ward, Eligh Brown, Dylan Gustin, Mackenzie Fleishman, Ashlyn Fleishman, Lucas Gustin, Sloane Birkebak, Sawyer Birkebak, Juliet Mortimer, Bennet Burgeson, Mackenzie Burgeson, and Grayson Beyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Barbara; his brother Don and daughter-in-law, Monique (Rod) Gustin.

Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting, and he had a special talent for creating stained glass. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Robert will be remembered for his steady presence, his faith in God, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with his family. His memory will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Hence-forth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day. And not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
